See one of the richest fossil exhibits at West Coast Fossil Park
Five million years ago sabre-toothed cats roamed this land, with four-tusked elephants and strange, three-toed horses. The West Coast then looked exotically different — green and well-watered. Then the Berg Rivier came down in a mighty flood. The flood demolished all before it and left behind only fossilized bones, washed up along the river banks.
Experience the gourmet mystery of Khoisan sea salt
Khoisan salt comes from a pristine underground seawater lake at the Velddrif Salt Works, on the shores of St. Helena Bay. The sea water filters through beds of shell giving the salt a distinct sweet salty taste and a roundness of flavor. Visit the Khoisan Salt factory shop in Velddrif and be delighted with a large variety of products.
